Description
In the construction industry, two types of anemometers are mainly used to measure air speed in ventilation systems. The most well-known type of anemometer has a wheel with blades in the shape of a wing or a wheel with blades. The axis is parallel to the direction of the airflow. A coupled dynamo converts the movement into electrical voltage. The thermal anemometer, on the other hand, consists of two heated Pt100 measuring sensors, which constantly differ in temperature. The sensors cool down due to the air flowing past. The electrical current required to maintain the temperature difference is measured and is a measure of air speed. This type is comparable to the classic hot wire anemometer, where the cooling is a measure of the air speed. The cooling affects a temperature sensitive resistor (e.g. NTC) in a circuit so that the air speed is converted into a voltage or current difference
